Stoke-on-Trent City Council has been working with Staffordshire Trading Standards, Age Concern, Home Improvement Agencies, Citizens Advice Bureaux and other local District Councils to find a way to put residents in touch with traders who are committed to doing a good job at a fair price. The result is the Trader Register. The Register will help householders find a trader to work on their home or garden. Although Traders participating in the scheme are not approved by Trading Standards they are committed to fair and honest work and good customer service.

Anyone who wants to find a trader in their area can ring the council, who will find a selection of traders for them and send them all the details and some useful advice in the post. The service is free for anyone who lives in Staffordshire or Stoke on Trent. People with access to the Internet you can access the information at www.traderregister.org.uk or http://www.traderregister.org.uk/website_selection.php
